These Noxa1neo-flox conditional (floxed) mutant mice may be useful in generating conditional mutations for studying phagocytic cells and chronic granulomatous diseases.

These mice possess loxP sites flanking exons 3 to 6 of the targeted gene. Mice that are homozygous for this allele are viable, fertile, normal in size and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. When these mutant mice are bred to mice that express Cre recombinase, resulting offspring will have exons 3 to 6 deleted in the cre-expressing tissue(s).
When bred to a strain with Cre recombinase expression in epiblast-derived tissues of the early embryo(see Stock No. 003755 for example), this mutant mouse strain may be useful in studies of phagocytic cells and chronic granulomatous diseases.
A targeting vector containing a FRT site flanked PGK/EM7 Neo cassette was utilized in the construction of this mutant. This selection cassette and a loxP site were inserted downstream of exon 6 of the targeted gene, and another loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 3. This construct was electroporated into B6(Cg)-Tyrc-2J/J derived PRX-B6-albino #1 embryonic stem (ES) cells. Correctly targeted ES cells were injected into C57BL/6J blastocysts. The resulting chimeric male animals were crossed to B6(Cg)-Tyrc-2J/J females. The mice were crossed to C57BL/6J (Stock No. 000664) for approximately 3 generations. Upon transfer to The Jackson Laboratory Repository, the mice were crossed to C57BL/6J (Stock No. 000664) at least once to establish the colony.
