Detailed description

This mutant mouse line contains a transgene that consists of a Myc-tagged mouse Accn1 (amiloride-sensitive cation channel 1, neuronal (degenerin)) cDNA driven by the rat Syn1 (synapsin1) promoter. This transgene is highly expressed in neurons. Hemizygotes demonstrate a deficit in fear conditioning.

Development

A transgenic vector was constructed by combining a five-repeat myelocytomatosis oncogene (Myc) epitope tag sequence with mouse Accn1 cDNA, driven by a rat synapsin 1 (Syn1) promoter. The vector was introduced to B6SJLF1 embryos. This line (32843/3) was backcrossed to C57BL/6 for more than 10 generations by the donating laboratory.
