The phenotype for this BAC transgenic strain which includes human NPIP (nuclear pore complex interacting protein) has not been fully characterized. Although seizures and a circling behavior were observed in some animals on a mixed genetic background, the incidence of this phenotype decreased after multiple backcrosses to C57BL/6 carried out by the donating laboratory.

Development

Transgenic mice were generated by direct microinjection of human BAC clone RP11-344H15 (Chr. 16 15040537-15224555) containing the NPIP gene into the pronuclei of fertilized B6SJLF2 mouse eggs. Resultant progeny of this line (bH15) were backcrossed to C57BL/6 three times by the donating laboratory.
