This transgenic strain expresses yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) under the transcriptional control of the mouse integrin alpha X (Itgax, Cd11c) promoter which is exclusively expressed in dendritic cells of the immune system.

Detailed description

This transgenic strain expresses yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) under the transcriptional control of the mouse integrin alpha X (Cd11c) promoter which is exclusively expressed in dendritic cells of the immune system. The Donating investigator indicates diabetes incidence of this stock has not been determined.

Development

Yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) was placed under the transcriptional control of the mouse integrin alpha X (Cd11c) promoter. The transgenic vector was introduced into B6CBAF1 fertilized oocytes. Founders were mated with C57BL/6 and heterozygotes were backcrossed to NOD mice for at least 13 generations prior to arrival at The Jackson Laboratory. This is the CD11c-EYFP^hi transgenic line described in the initial publication.
