This transgenic reporter strain expresses yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) under the transcriptional control of the mouse integrin alpha X (Cd11c) promoter which is exclusively expressed in dendritic cells of the immune system. This strain may be useful in studying the function and migration of dendritic cells in immune responses.

Yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) is under the transcriptional control of the mouse integrin alpha X (Itgax, Cd11c) promoter which is exclusively expressed in dendritic cells of the immune system. These mice have been used to assess distribution and mobility of dendritic cells. For example, one study using these mice showed that unilateral ureteral obstruction, renal dendritic cells exhibit inflammatory morphological and functional characteristics and are more effective antigen-presenting cells, but they do not directly contribute to tubulointerstitial damage and fibrosis. In another study these mice were used anatomically map and phenotype a discrete population of EYFP(+) cells within the microglia.
EYFP-Venus was placed under the transcriptional control of the mouse integrin alpha X (Cd11c) promoter. The transgenic vector was introduced to B6CBAF1 fertilized embryos. This line was backcrossed to C57BL/6 for seven generations by the donating laboratory. This is the CD11c-EYFPhi transgenic line described in the initial publication.

The Jackson Laboratory has rigorous genetic quality control and mutant gene genotyping programs to ensure the genetic background of JAX® Mice strains as well as the genotypes of strains with identified molecular mutations. JAX® Mice strains are only made available to researchers after meeting our standards. However, the phenotype of each strain may not be fully characterized and/or captured in the strain data sheets. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a strain's phenotype will meet all expectations. To ensure that JAX® Mice will meet the needs of individual research projects or when requesting a strain that is new to your research, we suggest ordering and performing tests on a small number of mice to determine suitability for your particular project. We do not guarantee breeding performance and therefore suggest that investigators order more than one breeding pair to avoid delays in their research.
