Description

Expression of yellow fluorescent protein under control of the mouse Prdm1 promoter, (also known as Blimp1) in this transgenic strain is observed in plasma cells. These mice may be useful in studies relating to modulation of immunization and autoimmunity.

Detailed description

Yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) was placed under the control of the mouse Blimp1 promoter in this transgenic strain. Expression of YFP is observed in plasma cells. Neither Blimp1 nor YFP are expressed in B cells.

Development

Yellow fluorescent protein (YFP) was inserted in the second exon of the Blimp1 (Prdm1) gene contained in a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC). The original ATG initiation codon of the targeted gene was mutated to match that of YFP. The modified BAC was linearized and microinjected into pronuclei of B6CBAF1 zygotes. This line was backcrossed to C57BL/6 for 13 generations by the donating laboratory.
