Detailed description

Carriers are phenotypically normal and males and females are fertile. One copy of this Sharpin-containing transgene is adequate to rescue the chronic proliferative dermatitis (cpdm) homozygous phenotype.

Development

The C57BL/6-derived RP24-173I23 BAC, which includes the sequence for Sharpin, Oplah, Exosc4, Cyc1, Gpaa1, Brp16, Maf1, Scx, and Tssk5, was microinjected into FVB/NJ fertilized eggs and the resulting Tg(RP24-173I23)1Sun transgenic line was maintained on the FVB/NJ background.
