Mice that are homozygous for the targeted mutation are viable, normal in size and do not display any gross physical abnormalities. No gene product (protein) is detected by Western blot analysis of brain extracts from homozygous animals. This mutant mouse strain may be useful in studies of synapse formation and/or function.

Mice that are homozygous for the targeted mutation are viable, normal in size and do not display any gross physical abnormalities. No gene product (protein) is detected by Western blot analysis of brain extracts from homozygous animals. This mutant mouse strain may be useful in studies of synapse formation and/or function.

Development

A targeting vector containing a neomycin resistance cassette was used to replace the first two coding exons of the gene. The construct was electroporated into 129Sv-derived embryonic stem (ES) cells. Correctly targeted ES cells were injected into C57BL/6 blastocysts. The resulting chimeric animals were minimally to C57BL/6 mice by the donating laboratory.
