Description

This allele expresses two copies of Or8a1 (formerly Olfr151) and one Tau-GFP reporter from one tricistronic message thereby doubling the expression level of OR8A1 in the olfactory sensory neurons that express this allele.

Detailed description

This allele expresses two copies of Or8a1 (formerly Olfr151) and one Tau-GFP reporter from one tricistronic message thereby doubling the expression level of OR8A1 in the olfactory sensory neurons that express this allele. Histology reported by Movahedi et al. (2016) showed that GFP-expressing axons always form glomeruli. However, when crossed with the Tau-RFP tagged Or8a1^tm27Mom allele (see Stock No. 006679) the GFP-expressing axons in these compound heterozygotes converge in the correct location but instead of forming one glomerulus they segregate and form compartmentalized glomeruli.

Development

This allele was generated in 129P2-derived ES cells. The chimera was bred to C57BL/6, and the line was then maintained by sibling intercrossing. Sperm was cryopreserved from homozygous males.
