Gcnt4F floxed mice possess loxP sites flanking the single coding exon of the Gcnt4 gene. When bred to a cre-expressing strain, the exon is excised in tissues where cre is present. This strain may be useful in applications related to the perturbation of processes dependent upon protein O glycosylation posttranslational modifications.

Mice homozygous for this floxed targeted mutation are viable, normal in size, and do not display any gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. When bred to a cre-expressing strain, the exon is excised in tissues of the resulting offspring where cre activity is present. The recombined allele is incapable of producing a C2GnT3 protein.
A targeting vector was used to place a floxed neomycin-thymidine kinase expression cassette downstream of the single coding exon, and a loxP site upstream. The construct was electroporated into (129X1/SvJ x 129S1/Sv)F1-Kitl+-derived R1 embryonic stem (ES) cells. Transient Cre expression in targeted cells excised the neo cassette and left the loxP-flanked exon. The line has been backcrossed to C57BL/6 at least eight times by the donating laboratory.
