Detailed description

Homozygotes have a darkened dorsal stripe that is visible as soon as the coat grows in.

Development

The darkened dorsal mutation arose spontaneously in the LPT/LeJ strain in 1992 when that strain was at generation F120. The original darkened dorsal mutant was outcrossed once to C3HeB/FeJ and the strain was maintained by sibling mating after that.
