Detailed description

The QTL, atherosclerosis 6, is thought to be located in the congenic region between D12Mit182 and D12Mit105.

Development

The region (D12Mit182-D12Mit2) has been introgressed from C57BLKS/J to C57BL/6J for a minimum of 11 generations. Additional genotyping in the congenic region indicates that the interval defined by (D12Mit182-D12Mit105) is DBA/2J-like and the interval defined by (D12Mit83-D12Mit60) is C57BL/6J-like. The inbred strain C57BLKS/J originated from the inbred strains C57BL/6J and DBA/2J. Dr. Beverly Paigen generated this strain at The Jackson Laboratory; the strain was cryopreserved in 2006.
