Description

This Tnfsf4 knockout strain is useful in studies of antigen specific T cell responses, autoimmunity, and atherosclerosis.

Development

A targeting vector was designed to replace exon 1 with the neomycin resistance genes. Additionally, the diptheria toxin A subunit was introduced into the 3' end of the vector. The construct was electroporated into 129S4/SvJae (J1)-derived embryonic stem (ES) cells and correctly targeted clones were injected into blastocysts. Male chimeric mice were mated with C57BL/6Cr females to produce heterozygotes. Mutant mice were backcrossed at least 6 generations to C57BL/6Cr before arriving at The Jackson Laboratory in 2001. The colony was maintained in the laboratory of Dr. Beverly Paigen by sibling matings. It was cryopreserved in 2006.
