Targeted (Reporter, Null/Knockout, Modified regulatory region) | Adamts5 | a disintegrin-like and metallopeptidase (reprolysin type) with thrombospondin type 1 motif, 5 (aggrecanase-2) |

The construct insert is reported to be "LacO-SA-IRES-lacZ-Neo555G/Kan." Upon arrival, these mice had been backcrossed four generations to C57BL/6. During the importation process at The Jackson Laboratory, at least one additional backcross to C57BL/6J mice was performed. The resulting mice are backcrossed a total of at least five generations.
Expressed Gene | lacZ, beta-galactosidase, E. coli |
---|---|
Site of Expression | lacZ expression is detected in: brain, spinal cord, sciatic nerve, eyes, thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow, aorta, heart, lung, liver, pancreas, kidney, urinary bladder, thyroid gland, trachea, pituitary gland, adrenal glands, skeletal muscle, skin, testis, prostate gland, ovary, uterus and cervix. |

Strain of Origin | 129P2/OlaHsd |
Chromosome | 16 |
Molecular Note | An IRES-lacZ gene was inserted into and replaced 134 nucleotides of exon 2. The deleted region includes that encoding the catalytic active site as well as most of the putative muscle regulatory factor-binding enhancer. The highest levels of RNA transcripts are detectable in pancreas, adrenal gland and white fat. Moderate levels of RNA transcripts are detectable in: olfactory bulb, heart, lung, thymus, skin, gallbladder, testis, epididymis and coagulating gland. Lower levels of RNA transcripts are also detectable in: whole brain, cortex, subcortical region, cerebellum, brainstem, spinal cord, eye, Harderian glands, liver, kidney, spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow, urinary bladder, pituitary gland, salivary gland, skeletal muscle, tongue, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, cecum, seminal vesicle, prostate gland and uterus. LacZ expression was detected in all organs examined. |

The Jackson Laboratory has rigorous genetic quality control and mutant gene genotyping programs to ensure the genetic background of JAX® Mice strains as well as the genotypes of strains with identified molecular mutations. JAX® Mice strains are only made available to researchers after meeting our standards. However, the phenotype of each strain may not be fully characterized and/or captured in the strain data sheets. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a strain's phenotype will meet all expectations. To ensure that JAX® Mice will meet the needs of individual research projects or when requesting a strain that is new to your research, we suggest ordering and performing tests on a small number of mice to determine suitability for your particular project. We do not guarantee breeding performance and therefore suggest that investigators order more than one breeding pair to avoid delays in their research.
