Detailed description

Homozygotes have variable brachydactyly and syndactyly of all four feet and incomplete polydactyly can occur in the front feet.

Development

The recessive mdig mutation arose spontaneously in 1999 on the DBA/1LacJ background at The Jackson Laboratory and has been maintained primarily through sibling mating homozygote x heterozygote and vice versa. In 2005 embryos were generated for cryopreservation from DBA/1LacJ females and homozygous mutant males.
