Description

These RIP-E3/NOD-scid mice express a transgene containing adenovirus early region 3 genes under control of the rat insulin II promoter (RIP).

Detailed description

Transgenic expression of adenovirus early region 3 genes under the rat insulin II promoter (RIP) in beta-cells in nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice (Stock No. 003869) decreases the incidence and delays the onset of autoimmune diabetes, but whether also true for these RIP-E3/NOD-scid mice has not been reported.

Development

The Tg(Ins2-E3)1Dvs transgene was introduced into B6D2F2 Oocytes and backcrossed onto C57BL/6J before then being backcrossed onto NOD.CB17-Prkdc^scid until N11 and then bred to homozygosity for Prkdc^scid and the transgene. This strain is maintained by sibling mating double homozygotes.
