Mice homozygous for the Lrpap1^tm1Her targeted mutation (commonly referred to as RAP) are viable and fertile. They have a functional deficiency of the low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP) with reduced amounts of LRP seen in both the liver and the brain of homozygotes.
