These BMP-6 mice express a transgene containing the human BMP6 gene under the control of the bovine keratin 10 promoter and is integrated into the Y Chromosome from the FVB/N strain.

Detailed description

Male mice carrying the VI632 transgene incorporated on the Y chromosome appear normal at birth, but begin to show skin abnormalities at about 6 days of age. Inflammatory lesions develop by 2-3 weeks of age. The skin condition progressively worsens and is characterized by hair loss, flaky skin, and nail abnormalities.

Development

The transgene contains the human BMP6 gene under the control of the bovine keratin 10 promoter. FVB/N embryos were injected.
