This congenic strain has the MHC H2b haplotype from the C57BL/10SnJ strain with mice exhibiting some but not all of the immune dysfunctions of NOD/LtJ mice. This strain was developed to determine the effect of the non-MHC diabetogenic genes on the development of autoimmunity when compared to the NOD/LtJ strain (Stock #001976), and mice exhibit some but not all of the immune dysfunctions of NOD/LtJ mice. The NOD.H-2b strain does not develop insulitis, cyclophosphamide-induced diabetes, or spontaneous diabetes, but does develop extensive lymphocytic infiltrates in the pancreas and the submandibular glands.
This congenic strain was made by transferring the H2b haplotype from C57BL/10SnJ mice to the NOD/Lt strain.
