Detailed description

This strain is one of a set of CXJ recombinant inbred strains derived from a cross between SJL/J and BALB/cKe.

Development

This recombinant inbred strain is one of a panel of CXJ recombinant inbreds made at The Salk Institute beginning in 1978 from the cross of one SJL/J male with two BALB/cKe females and one BALB/cKe male with two SJL/J females. Repeated sibling inbreeding yielded a panel of at least 9 strains at generation F21. In approximately 1994 seven of these recombinant inbred strains, lines 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 15, were imported into The Jackson Laboratory and cryopreserved. This strain was frozen at generataion F45.
