Detailed description

When moved onto a C57BL/6JEi background the Chr Y^POS causes sex reversal. However, the sex ratio for this consomic strain is normal. No evidence of abnormalities in adult female or male reproductive systems has been found.

Development

This consomic was generated by repeatedly backcrossing this M. domesticus poschiavinus Y Chromosome (Chr Y^POS) from a carrier male to a BALB/cByJ female at each generation and in 1989 embryos were generated for cryopreservation from males at generation N18 or beyond bred to BALB/cByJ females.
