The AKR/JBoy H2 complex (H2k) on chromosome 17 was introgressed onto the C57BL/6JBoy background. Mice congenic for H2 haplotypes are widely used in immunologic research and often vary in immune response and pathogen susceptibility from the recipient strain.

In this congenic strain, the AKR/JBoy H2 complex (H2k) on chromosome 17 was introgressed onto the C57BL/6JBoy background. H2k occurs naturally in the following inbred strains: C3H, C3H/HeJ, C3H/An, C3H/Bi, C3H/DiSn, C3H/St, CBA, CBA/CaJ, CBA/N, AKR/J, CE/J, C57BR/cdJ, C58/J, MA/J, RF/J, and ST/bJ. The H2k haplotype is k at the class I loci (K, D) and the class II loci (A, E). Mice congenic for H2 haplotypes are widely used in immunologic research and often vary in immune response and pathogen susceptibility from the recipient strain.
The AKR/JBoy H2 complex (H2k) on chromosome 17 was introgressed onto the C57BL/6JBoy background for at 14 generations with selection for AKR-derived H2k at each generation. The strain was generated and maintained by Boyd, and then transferred to Flaherty and then Egorov at The Jackson Laboratory.
