Detailed description

These mice carry a spontaneous deletion that includes T through, at least, Qk. The allele expresses the t- haplotype specific proteins p63/6.9a, TCP-4B, TCP-5, TCP-9, and TCP-8B.

Development

The T^Orl mutation arose spontaneously in approximately 1972 in the Swiss/Orl non-inbred stock. It was backcrossed several generations onto C57BL/6JOrl and imported into the laboratory of Dr. Eva Eicher at The Jackson Laboratory where it was backcrossed onto the C57BL/6J background. In 1987 C57BL/6J females were bred with heterozygous males at generation N15 to generate embryos for cryopreservation.
