These mice carry a spontaneous mutation at the Slc45a2 locus characterized by a reduction of pigmentation in both eye and coat color.

Development

Slc45a2^Uw-dbr was a spontaneous mutation that arose on B10PL(73NS) at N8F34. It was backcrossed to C57BL/6J for 8 generations, then sibling mated heterozygote x wild type or wild type x heterozygote. Embryos were frozen from C57BL/6J females x homozygous males.
