Detailed description

This congenic strain carries the Esd electrophoretic variant allele from the wild derived strain MOLF/Ei on a LT/SvEi genetic background. Esd^c determines the most cathodal band among other variant alleles at this locus.

Development

The c allele of Esd (formerly Es10) was backcrossed from MOLF/Ei onto LT/SvEi for 10 generations before intercrossing. In 1988 N10F19 homozygotes were bred together to generate embryos for cryopreservation. (Eppig and Eicher, 1983.)
