This is one of a series of congenic strains developed by D.W. Bailey to isolate histocompatibility loci from the BALB/cBy strain onto a C57BL/6By genetic background. This strain may contain histocompatibility alleles identified in other congenic strains of this series.
Don Bailey, The Jackson Laboratory
Dubey et al. (1993) reported heightened NK cell activity in this Chromosome 4 congenic. Bailey (1985) reported a change, compared with the C57BL/6By host, in mandible shape, longbone length, and curvature and thickness of lower incisors.
A portion of Chromosome 4 from BALB/cBy was backcrossed onto C57BL/6By by Dr. Don Bailey at The Jackson Laboratory. This congenic had reached generation N11 by 1985.
