In(2)5Rk was induced in a DBA/2J by 9 Gy of acute X-irradiation and this male was bred to a C57BL/6J female. When this Stock bearing this inversion was frozen in 1987 the black and tan mutation was on the same chromosome as the inversion and the pallid mutation was in the intact chromosome, in repulsion with the inversion region. The embryos cryopreserved were generated by breeding males that were In5Rk at +/+ + Bloc1s6pa with females that were either + + Bloc1s6pa/+ + Bloc1s6pa or In5 at +/+ + Bloc1s6pa. Cryorecovered mice that are black and tan (at/a) likely carry the inversion and those that are pallid likely do not carry the inversion, however there is a small possibility of recombination between at and the inversion.
