Detailed description

This congenic strain carries the H2^ar1 haplotype from the LG/Ckc inbred strain. (Two substrains of LG, LG/Ckc and LG/J, were separated at F27. LG/Ckc is H2^ar1 Pgk2^a while LG/J is H2^d Pgk2^b).

Development

This is a “Congenic Resistant” strain of mice developed by George D. Snell with Marianna Cherry in their studies of histocompatibility. [Snell, G.D. 1978. In Origins of Inbred Mice (H.C. Morse III, ed.). Academic Press, New York.]

The strain was backcrossed the equivalent of 13 generations to C3H/HeDiSn before being maintained by sib matings. Embryos were cryopreserved in 1985 at generation N13HF27.
