This congenic strain carries the H3^c allele from BALB/cSn.

Development

This is a “Congenic Resistant” strain of mice developed by George D. Snell with Ralph Graff in their studies of histocompatibility. [Snell, G.D. 1978. In Origins of Inbred Mice (H.C. Morse III, ed.). Academic Press, New York.]

The H3^c allele from BALB/cSn was transferred onto C57BL/10ScSn by the equivalent of 11 generations of backcrossing before being maintained by sib matings. The strain was cryopreserved in 1994 at generation N11F66.
