This B6 congenic strain carries Ea2^a from RIII/WySn.

Development

This is a “Congenic Resistant” strain of mice developed by George D. Snell with Marianna Cherry in their studies of histocompatibility. [Snell, G.D. 1978. In Origins of Inbred Mice (H.C. Morse III, ed.). Academic Press, New York.]

The Ea2^a allele was transferred onto C57BL/6J from RIII/WySn by the equivalent of 11 generations of backcrossing before being maintained by sib matings. It was cryopreserved in 1990-91 at generation NE11F58.
