Detailed description

This congenic strain carries the T-cell Cd8a^a and Cd8b1^a co-receptor alleles from the PL/J strain on a C57BL/6J genetic background.

Development

Cd8a^a and Cd8b1^a are closely linked on chromosome 6 and were backcrossed from PL/J onto C57BL/6J. At the 10th backcross generation, this subline, designated 75NS, was extracted by sibling mating between N11 mice. Continuing backcrosses to N30 produced the 85NS line - B6.PL-Cd8a^a Cd8b1^a/(85NS)CyJ (001065). (Gibson et al., 1983.)
