I have the privilege of conducting research at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, where I am developing targeted therapeutics for intracranial germ cell tumors. I have taken advantage of the resources available through the Smash Childhood Cancer (SCC) consortium and worked with the biologists and chemists to define the 3D structure of the identified therapeutic targets for germ cell tumors and subsequently performed in silico screening of libraries of chemical structures through IBM’s World Community Grid. With my research proposal, I aim to contribute to the team through in vitro and in vivo validation studies of the previously identified candidate compounds. Upon my completion of my research project on germ cell tumor, my goal is to continue to expand my investigation into other pediatric cancers that have high morbidity and mortality such as Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
