Schorer leads all human resources operations for the Laboratory’s workforce and oversees organizational and cultural development, talent acquisition and workforce planning, diversity and inclusion, human resources information systems, total rewards, occupational health, and environmental health & safety services.
As JAX’s chief of staff and chief people officer, Emily Schorer serves as a strategic partner to the president and CEO, providing leadership support on key initiatives, policy development, strategic planning, and operations while overseeing growth initiatives, human resources, environmental health and safety services, inclusion and belonging, ombuds office and strategic communications.
Schorer joined JAX in 2020 as senior vice president and chief human resources officer leading all global human resources operations for the Laboratory’s nearly 3,000 employees. During her tenure as CHRO, Emily provided essential leadership throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, helped to champion the arrival of JAX’s president and CEO in 2022 (link to Lon’s announcement), and established numerous employee-centered programs including the office of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Prior to joining the Laboratory, Schorer served as senior vice president of human resources for Cape Cod Healthcare in Massachusetts, the leading healthcare services provider and largest employer on Cape Cod. Prior to Cape Cod Healthcare, she worked for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution for several years, last serving in the role of chief administrative officer. She is a member of the corporation at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and a trustee of Riverview School, an independent boarding school for students with complex language and learning challenges.
