Catherine 'Katy' Longley to join The Jackson Laboratory as vice president and CFO

The Jackson Laboratory announced today that S. Catherine (Katy) Longley of Brunswick, Maine, will join the nonprofit biomedical research institute as vice president and chief financial officer (CFO).

Beginning her new role as CFO in August, Longley will provide strategic leadership, direction and management for all financial activities of The Jackson Laboratory including leading the development of financial strategies, plans and budgets and developing a world class Financial Services team.

"Katy is a seasoned executive with deep financial leadership experience. Her expertise in audit and budgeting, debt issuance and financial strategy combined with her broad experience and responsibilities beyond finance will be critical assets to help grow The Jackson Laboratory to its next stage,” said Chuck Hewett, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, The Jackson Laboratory.

For nearly 14 years, Longley has served as the senior vice president for Finance and Administration & Treasurer at Bowdoin College where she is the senior financial officer responsible for the institution’s strategic financial planning and budgeting, capital structure, operating budget, and risk management and procurement.

She spent 12 years practicing law with Verrill & Dana, LLC, in Portland, Maine including six as a partner, and also served for seven years as a Commissioner in the administration of former Maine Governor Angus King where she had oversight for professional and financial regulation. Longley serves as a director of Camden National Corporation, Camden, Maine (CAC, NASDAQ), is a member of the subscribers advisory board of United Educators, a reciprocal risk retention group in Bethesda, Maryland, is a director of Maine Employers Mutual Insurance Company in Portland, Maine, and serves on the board of Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. She holds a Bachelors of Art Degree from Bowdoin College as well as a Juris Doctor Degree from Suffolk University Law School.
