Bar Harbor, Maine—A reception and talks by young Jackson Laboratory scientists and senior officials this month in Portland will benefit the Laboratory’s predoctoral and postdoctoral programs.
The event is set for Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. in Hannaford Hall at the University of Southern Maine.
Speakers include Jackson Laboratory Executive Vice President and COO Charles E. Hewett, Ph.D., Vice President for Education Tom Litwin, Ph.D., cancer researcher Jennifer Trowbridge, Ph.D., and Alzheimer's disease researcher Gareth Howell, Ph.D., as well as USM student Jennifer Ditano, a former JAX summer student.
The purpose of the event is to share excitement about the Laboratory’s contributions to better health through genetics and genomics research and to raise funds for the Laboratory’s predoctoral and postdoctoral programs, which are vital to training tomorrow’s scientists.
Tickets are $50 per person with all funds supporting the predoctoral and postdoctoral program at The Jackson Laboratory. The ticket fee is waived for students with college ID. Register or donate to the education fund online or contact Penny Fox at 800-474-9980.
