Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can you create a gene targeted ES cell line for my gene of interest?
A: No, we do not offer molecular biology services to create modified ES cell lines; ES cell lines for microinjection are provided by the project sponsor.
Q: Do you provide karyotype analysis of my ES cells?
A: Yes, karyotype evaluation is included with the full service offering.
Q: What pathogen testing do you require for the ES cells?
A: We test the provided ES cells for mycoplasma and murine viral contamination as part of the service offering, therefore advanced testing is not required.
Q: How many clones do you require for injection?
A: We require a minimum 2 clones for the full service option and 1 for the lite service for each strain you wish to create.
Q: Do you guarantee germline transmission or creation of high percentage chimeras?
A: Due to the varied quality and biology of the modified ES cells that are provided for injection, we do not guarantee germline transmission or creation of high percentage chimeras.
Q: How long does it usually take to create founder mice?
A: We estimate an ES cell blastocyst microinjection project will take approximately 13-15 weeks to create founder animals for delivery.
