Phenotype of NSG™ mice treated with STZ
6-8 week old NSG™ (NOD.Cg-Prkdcscid Il2rgtm1Wjl/SzJ (005557, NSG™) males received daily intraperitoneal injections of 40 mg/kg streptozotocin (STZ) or buffer control for five days.

Figure 2. The aldehyde fuchsin (AF) positive islets (indicated by arrows) are easily observed in the control pancreas at low-power magnification, but are inapparent in STZ-treated pancreas. Rare AF positive cells may be observed in STZ-treated pancreas at high-power magnification, in contrast to the abundant AF positive islet cells in the control pancreas.
