How do I sign up?

Students must register for the Maine State Science Fair through their school or homeschool. All registration and project submission is done online, using a tool called 'Scienteer'. If you don't know who to talk to at your school, please send us an email and we will point you in the right direction.

Do I need parental or other permission?

Yes. One of the first steps when registering for the Maine State Science Fair is to receive parental or similar permission. Permission is granted online, using the Scienteer tool.

Do I have to win a local or regional science fair to enter the state science fair?

Most students do not need to qualify to enter and participate in the Maine State Science Fair. Some schools with a large number of participants do require their students to qualify, at the school level, before they can participate in the Maine State Science Fair. Most students, however, are permitted to enter the Maine State Science Fair without prior selection or qualifying steps.

How old do I have to be to enter the state science fair?

There is no age requirement. Students must be enrolled as a high school student in good standing at the time of participation in the Maine State Science Fair.

Can I work with my friend on a project?

Yes. Students may work in teams of up to three participants.
