Cancer is a heterogeneous collection of diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell growth and spread to distant organs. In this series, we discuss mouse models and techniques used to answer basic and preclinical research questions about cancer initiation, progression, and therapeutic interventions. We will cover how to care for immunodeficient strains, proper model selection and generation, novel modeling strategies which more accurately predict human cancer response and considerations for designing successful animal experiments.
