The Jackson Laboratory and Scripps Research are pleased to offer a mouse surgical workshop in La Jolla, CA. This four-day intensive hands-on workshop is for those wishing to obtain practical training in surgical techniques for the laboratory mouse. In addition to surgical procedures, topics covered include mouse biomethods, anatomy, aseptic technique, suturing and microscope use.

 Surgical Techniques include:

• castration
• vasectomy
• ovariectomy
• ovarian transplantation
• adrenalectomy
• splenectomy
• thymectomy
• nephrectomy
• jugular vein catheterization

Additional procedures may be covered upon request and as time and institutional approval permits. The address of the venue will be given to registered participants.

Completion of this workshop may be used for continuing educational units for AALAS and Academy of Surgical Research (ASR) recertification.
