Join us for this four-day, residential course. We explore the many facets of being a scientist beyond the science. We'll help you build your professional skills to enhance your pre- or postdoctoral training experience and prepare for the next step in your scientific career.

The Whole Scientist™ answers these questions and helps scientists like you prepare for the next step. Join us to expand your professional skills as you embark on a fulfilling science career. This course explores the many facets of being a scientist beyond at-the-bench technical skills.

This year's The Whole Scientist™ course focuses on Team Science - including hands-on experience with both project and personnel management, setting strategies, team dynamics and cross-disciplinary collaboration. We'll also work on navigating interpersonal communications and fostering inclusivity within a team. Day-by-day schedule is included below.

The course will begin on Monday, May 13th and conclude with dinner on Wednesday, May 15th. Attendees should plan on arriving after 3:00pm on Sunday, May 12th and checking out by 9am on Thursday, May 16th.

Please note: The Whole Scientist course is filled. Please check back for additional courses in Fall or contact us at thewholescientist@jax.org to host a course at your institution.

HighSeas Conference Center

Lodging accommodations will be at Highseas Conference Center, a spacious mansion built in 1912, overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay and adjacent to beautiful Acadia National Park. The registration fee includes lodging (minimum double occupancy). Transportation will be provided from the conference center to the course venue for the duration of the course. Highseas cannot accommodate families. Please refer to the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce for off-campus lodging alternatives.
