This is an introduction to R for non-programmers using gapminder data. The workshop will be held for 3 consecutive Monday afternoons from 12:30 to 4:30 on January 28, February 4, and February 11. If you have already taken our two-day R for Reproducible Scientific Analysis, you can use this Monday series to review and to brush up your skills.
The goal of this lesson is to teach novice programmers to write modular code and best practices for using R for data analysis. The emphasis of these materials is to give attendees a strong foundation in the fundamentals of R, and to teach best practices for scientific computing: breaking down analyses into modular units, task automation, and encapsulation. Note that this workshop will focus on teaching the fundamentals of the programming language R, and will not teach statistical analysis.
This workshop is open to the community and is free of charge. Participants must attend in person. Remote attendance will not be supported.
