The Type 2 Diabetes & Metabolism Symposium will take place on November 14 & 15, 2019 at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, CT. This special symposium will be hosted by Jackson Lab scientists Dr. Michael Stitzel and Dr. Jacques Banchereau and will feature other global experts as they discuss the genetic architecture of T2D. T2D represents a major challenge in contemporary medicine and exemplifies how genetic architecture of a disease can involve variation across many thousands of loci. An additional challenge is that causal variants identified by human GWAS mostly fall into non-coding sequences, each of which may operate through multiple regulatory circuits. Existing data and analytical results from both human patients and mouse genetic diversity panels now provide a starting point to leverage cutting-edge methodology for an unprecedented attack on this devastating disease epidemic. This symposium will feature analyses using the latest genomics, proteomics and metabolomics technologies and how the outcomes relate to complex disease pathogenesis.
