This hands‐on workshop teaches participants to use Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) to efficiently manage mouse strains. Topics covered include cryobiology and strain archival, colony expansion, strain rescure, rederivation, genetic stability and how to overcome breeding problems using ARTs. Hands‐on techniques covered include embryo handling, embryo and sperm cryopreservation and recovery, surgical and non‐surgical embryo transfer, In‐vitro fertilization, flushing embryos, superovulation, inducing pseudopregnancy and more. Aseptic surgical techniques, biomethods and project planning will also be covered. Participants will be taught by leading experts in the field and will obtain the information they need to implement ARTs when they return to their institution.
Completion of this workshop can be used for continuing educational units for AALAS recertification. Participants will also receive a signed certificate of participation from The Jackson Laboratory.
