Comprehensive Workshop on Mouse Biomethods

This one-of-a-kind hands-on workshop teaches tangible and marketable skills in mouse biomethods. Participants will learn injections, gavage, blood collection, mouse identification, euthanasia and much more.  This workshop is designed for individuals new to the mouse research field and those who wish to refine and/or learn new techniques.

This one-of-a-kind workshop teaches tangible and marketable skills in mouse biomethods.  This course begins with a didactic overview of common strain characteristics, the mouse life cycle including breeding and reproduction, behavior, ethics, disease and safety.  The majority of this workshop is hands-on and covers mouse anatomy, injections (IP, subcutaneous, foot pad, tail vein and retro-orbital), oral gavage, neonatal oral dosing, vaginal plug check, pregnant female palpation, throat swab, blood collection (submandibular, retro orbital, tail tip, saphenous and cardiac puncture), mouse identification (tattoo, ear notch and ear tag) as well as primary and secondary euthanasia (CO2, cervical dislocation, decapitation, thoracic puncture and perfusion).  This workshop is designed for individuals new to the mouse research field and those who wish to refine and/or learn new techniques.
