George A. Kuchel, MD, FRCP is a geriatrician, gerontologist and professor of medicine at UConn Health in Farmington, CT. He holds the Travelers Chair in Geriatrics and Gerontology, and also serves as Director of the UConn Center on Aging at the University of Connecticut. Dr Kuchel’s research has focused on Precision Gerontology, emphasizing development and testing of geroscience-guided interventions designed to enhance function and independence in older adults by targeting heterogeneity in aging-related declines involving host defense, mobility, cognition and bladder control. In addition to studies examining the role of cell-mediated immunity in the responses of frail older adults to the flu vaccine, Dr Kuchel is a multiple PI of the NIA Translational Geroscience Network and member of the leadership team for the TAME (Targeting Aging with Metformin) trial.
