Julia Salzman, Ph.D.

Julia Salzman is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Data Science,  Biochemistry, and Statistics at Stanford University, and a Member of the Stanford Cancer Institute, Bio-X, and the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute. She received an A.B. in Mathematics magna cum laude from Princeton University and her Ph.D. in Statistics from Stanford University. After a year on the Faculty in the Department of Statistics at Columbia University, she returned to Stanford as a postdoctoral research fellow with Dr. Patrick Brown and subsequently joining the faculty at Stanford. The Salzman lab is primarily a statistical and computational biology data science laboratory. Scientific inference is focused on studying RNA biology regulation, single cell genomics and spatial transcriptomics with a secondary focus on novel experimental design to enable statistical analysis of RNA expression.
