ProfessorVirginia Commonwealth University

Dr. Jason Reed is a Professor of Physics and a member of the Massey Cancer Center and the Institute for Engineering and Medicine at VCU in Richmond, Virginia.  He has worked for over 20 years on experimental approaches to single molecule genomics, including developing the first automated implementations of optical mapping. Dr. Reed’s group invented the underlying chemistry for nanoparticle DNA barcoding and single-molecule multiplex qPCR. He is passionate about moving research out of the lab and creating tools which increase the reliability of data and quality of outcomes for genomic diagnostic applications. These tools are intended to have a direct impact in research laboratories, clinical settings and benefit patients.
