Joanna is a Master of Science in Computer Science candidate at the University of Toronto where she works on a machine learning based somatic variant caller in Dr. Jared Simpson's lab at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research. She received her B. Sc. at McGill University in Montreal where she studied Computer Science and Biology. She is the founder of a coding camp called "HER CODE CAMP" that aims to narrow the diversity gap in tech through workshops and connecting low-income women-identifying, non-binary, trans folks with opportunities to shine in the field of tech. She is passionate about computers applied to biological problems, the outdoors, and helping others!
