Dr. Klasko is the president and CEO of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health, the fastest-growing academic medical center in the country, having gone from a one-campus university, two-hospital system to an 18-hospital, 2-campus university with a Medicare payor and revenues of $8.2 billion. Dr. Klasko has written several books, including this year’s “UnHealthcare: A Manifesto for Health Assurance” with Hemant Taneja, the founder of AirBNB and Livongo and “Patient No Longer” with Ryan Donohue from the NRC as well as last year’s highly successful “Bless This Mess, a Picture Story of Healthcare in America.” His research and experience in how technology can reduce health inequities has led to him being named as the first physician to be a distinguished fellow of the World Economic Forum, leading the platform on the digital economy and being named as the only physician by Fast Company magazine as the 25 most creative people in business. Dr. Klasko led the merger of Thomas Jefferson University with a Top 5 fashion and design university, which together have created the first design thinking curriculum in a medical and nursing school. His vision of “healthcare at any address” has led to his appointment on several “fourth industrial revolution” boards, including Mindstrong, a behavioral health technology company; Nuvo, a remote obstetric monitoring company; and the Health Assurance SPAC searching for companies that can vault healthcare into the consumer revolution.
